Nairobi Hotels Lodges & Tented Camps

Tree Tops

tented campTreetops is the most famous game viewing lodge in the world. It overlooks a water hole and salt lick, high in the Aberdare National Park Salient. Solely dedicated to game viewing, the accommodation is compact and cosy.

From the comfortable lounge which features picture windows and trees growing through the building, this original tree lodge is legendary for its historical royal connection. In February 1952, Treetops is where Princess Elizabeth became Queen on learning of the death of her father, King George VI. This four decks lodge, rising straight out of the ground on stilts has a rooftop viewing platform. The platform provides a breath taking view of the visiting rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, bushbuck, waterbuck and many other species.

The excitement of Treetops stems from the fact that although the animals realize you exist they still approach fearlessly. Not only is this the closest you can get to wildlife, but it makes a welcome change to have animals come to you instead of the other way round.

MARA INTREPIDS

Sitting above a sweeping bend in the Talek River at the confluence of the Maasai Mara’s four game-viewing areas, Mara Intrepids enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the Maasai Mara ecosystem.

The camp is a short drive from the Mara River, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August. For the remainder of the year, the camp offers some of the world’s finest game viewing, with large local populations of elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and all the Big Cats.

Our 30 luxury tents are widely spread across a large riverside site to ensure guests the optimum privacy and peace. Each tent is furnished in the classic style of the grand African safaris, with large four-poster beds and handsome reproduction furniture offset by modern en suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush toilets and all modern amenities.

Mara Serena Lodge

Perched on the saddle of a hill, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge has one of the most spectacular views imaginable across the vast plains, forests and rivers that make up the Masai Mara – one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. It is on this very terrain that the annual migration takes place when millions of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle cross the plains below, on their way to the rich new grasses of the Serengeti. This is a spectacle that should be witnessed at least once in a lifetime.

The hotel has been designed to mirror a traditional Masai village or Manyatta and all the guest rooms are located in individual domed huts grouped in a circular manner. The furnishings of each room have been inspired by traditional Masai art and each one has a private balcony with views that stretch over the vast African landscape.
